Natasha in Wonderland

back to school: back to work.  it's been a very slow semester so far... doing a lot of analog photography and darkroom! For this assignment, we had to pick an environment we don't normally inhabit and place ourselves into it.  I picked a screenshot from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, did some self portraits with strobes and photoshopped myself into it.  The purpose of placing myself in that environment is because growing up, my parents were protective of me after losing my hearing.  They protected me from the unfriendly world we live in and they ensure i was comfortable.  Now that I am left alone on my own,  it becomes a challenge for me. Although Alice in Wonderland is a children's story, the path ahead of me in this image is not very friendly.  I, however, still want to enter this unfriendly world of Wonderland.  So it creates a metaphor for real life – The world may not be the safest, perfect, or friendly place but we all still have to go thru it.
